Solar Heating Panels.

We apologise for the big price jump since 2008 - this is largely due to the exchange rate against the US dollar, as these are imported from the USA. The 2009 list price of the solar panel kits is £182 + delivery and VAT.

A solar panel measures 20' x 2' and is made of a tough black plastic that absorbs the sun's heat, transferring it to the water that runs through its tiny tubes. The panel can be installed where it catches most of the sun, and you simply connect the solar panel to the delivery pipe after the filter. The outlet from the panel connects to pool's inlet point. As many splasher pools use 1.25" I.D. pipe - these systems are easy to install with the pipe and clips included.

For the greatest benefit - position the panel to catch the sun and run the pipework to that point. If you need extra flexi pipe, we can supply 1.25" I.D.pipe for £3 per metre and 1.5" I.D. flexi pipe for £3.50 per metre - just e-mail us details. The sun's rays bear onto these heat-absorbent panels, and can convert solar energy all day long, with no added electricity costs! Speak to a friend who has bought an electric pool heater - and ask what it does to their electricity bills!

The panel can be fixed to a simple frame, maybe made from wood and the panels attached with webbing straps or rope. If the panel is to be mounted higher than the pump, you need to take into account the extra height that the water has to be pumped, as the extra weight - or 'head' - increases the load against the pump and reduces the water flow-rate.

The kit includes connector hoses, clips, adapters and fitting instructions. Each panel can generate up to 12kW of heat per day and add this directly to your pool.

Fixing Kits for Solar Panels.

Smartpool offer a Frame Fixing kit (SK43) to attach their panels to a roof or frame. This contains:

• Five x Six foot long tough webbing straps,
• Fifteen stainless steel mounting brackets,
• Fifteen stainless steel screws size 14 for the brackets,
• A multilingual instruction manual.

Usually one fixing kit is required for each panel. The 2009 list price for this is £55 - try our special price of £36!

High Wind Fixing Kit SK34 is also available to be used in conjunction with SK43 above. It contains extra fixings to install a panel in high wind areas, as follows:

• Four x Six foot long tough webbing straps,
• Four stainless steel mounting brackets,
• Four stainless steel screws size 14 for the brackets,
• An Instruction manual in English. French and Spanish.

Diverter Valve Kits for Smartpool Panels.

Smartpool's Diverter Valve kit enables you to control the volume of water flow that you direct to the solar panel. This is useful when you reach the temperature level that suits you - and you can reduce the water flow through the heaters.

This kit No SK35 contains the following:

• One 1.5" Unibody Valve,
• Two 1.5" Tees,
• One FPT Nipple,
• Four 1.5" to 1.25" adapters,
• One Instruction Manual in English and French.

Swimfix Diverter Valve Kits

At Swimfix we aim to make your leisure time around your pool as easy and hassle free as possible.

For this reason, we have created our own diverter kits to help you get your solar panels set up as quickly and easily as possible, ensuring they will work exactly the way you want them to.

With a simple diverter kit such as this, a union ball valve can be used so that you choose when you want your solar panels to have water circulating through them. This helps avoid your water from decreasing in temperature when the air temperature has dropped or the sun has gone down for example. This also means that you can keep your pool filtration system runnin without circulating through your solar panels.
