Water Testing Kits

Pooltester - Chlorine/pH

This easy-to-use water-test kit is a compact unit made out of strong plastic, that will probably last for years. There is no risk of dropping glass test tubes in pool areas - with glass shards everywhere!

The tester has a cell on one side to read the pH level, and a cell on the other to read free chlorine level. You simply rinse the cells with clean fresh water, and - holding it upside-down - put your hand under water up to your elbow and then invert the tester to fill it with water.

This is to give a more accurate indication of the chlorine contect of the water - as the water in the top region of a pool is beginning to lose its gas content as it escapes to atmosphere.

This comes complete with 20 DPD No 1 tablets to test free chlorine, 20 Phenol Red tablets to test pH levels, and full instructions. Simply replenish your supply of test tablets when you need, and this is a quick, cheaper alternative to test strips! These tablets are the same as are used for manual tests in swimming pools and leisure centres throughout the UK.

Bromine & pH tester kit

This easy to use kit enables you to carry out quick, accurate checks on the free bromine and pH levels in your pool or hot tub.

It comprises two test-cells - one for bromine and one for pH, with 20 test tablets for bromine and 20 Phenol Red tablets for pH, with full instructions. Simply immerse the tester in the pool to fill both chambers, tear open the foil seal to release a tablet and add it to the sample WITHOUT touching it with your fingers - as this can affect the reading!

Then - place the soft plastic lid on the tester to keep the water in and agitate for a few seconds to dissolve the reagent tablet. You then hold the chambers up to the light so that you can see and compare the sample against the colour grids - and select the colours that best match your samples and the grids.

What next? Once you establish the level of free bromine and the pH in your pool or spa water, you can then decide how much chemical you need to add to the water to keep the pH in the range 7.2 to 7.8 and sufficient bromine to deal with the swimmer numbers that you anticipate in the next few hours. If the pool is likely to be very busy - carry out the test in the next few hours and add chemicals accordingly. Please note that even a pool or hot tub that is not used for a few hours or days, will still lose bactericide (to atmosphere), and more needs to be added.

Chlorine & pH Tester+ 240 tablets!

This kit contains the sealed test cell with its standard supply of 20 x DPD No1 and 20 Phenol Red tablets, plus and extra pack of 100 DPD No1's and 100 Phenol Reds!

A heavily used swimming pool or hot tub needs a water test to be carried regularly and frequently. In a pool that is heavily used, and in strong sunlight or windy conditions, a swimming pool loses its sanitiser quite rapidly - several checks a day may be required to tell you if the water contains enough free chlorine to kill germs that can be harmful to humans. Inlarge pools it is also useful to check the water quality in deep water area as well as shallow areas. Water in deep areas has usually been in a pool for the longest time - and if it has lost its bactericide content - germs breed rapidly!

Please note: A water-test can only tell you the condition of the water in the area where you took the sample from. Your assessment of the pool's size, temperature, bather load, filtration efficiency, water flow rates, the weather conditions, and the water's appearance are all factors that you take into consideration when deciding what quantities of chemical to add, and when.

Bromine + pH test strips - 100 tests!

Each plastic bottle contains 50 test strips, to help you to quickly check the free chlorine, pH and Total Alkalinity levels in your pool or hot tub.

These are easy! Simply take a test strip out of the bottle (with dry fingers!) and dip it into your pool for 5 seconds, moving it gently backwards and forwards . Remove the strip and shake once to remove the excess water and wait 15 seconds for colours to develop. Complete all colour matching within 30 seconds - and there's your reading!

Chlorine & pH test strips -100 tests!

Here are two bottles of 50 test strips to quickly indicate the levels of free chlorine, pH and Total Alakalinity of your swimming pool or spa water.

Simply take a test strip out of the bottle (with dry fingers!), and dip it into the pool or hot tub water, moving it gently backwards and forewards for 5 seconds. Remove the strip from the water and shake it once to remove the excess - waiting for 15 seconds for the colours to develop.

Then match the Total Bromine, pH and Total Alkalinity in this order, with the colours on the chart on the bottle. Complete this matching process within 30 seconds - and there are your results! From this information you are able to alter the chemical content of your pool.

Please Note: A pool will generally lose sanitiser to atmosphere even if it is not used for a while. Generally the first factor that changes is the sanitiser content, as other chemical properties such as the pH, alkalinity levels, hardness factors, change more slowly depending upon factors such as swimmer numbers, water added from the mains etc.
