Chlorine Reducer

Champion Chlorine Reducer
Champion chlorine reducer is based on sodium thiosulphate pentahydrate. It is useful to keep in reserve, for cases where a pool's free chlorine is too high. A pool with high free chlorine levels will gradually lose this gas to atmosphere over time - but it can take many hours before this happens. Higher water temperatures and, in outdoor facilities, strong sunlight and breezy conditions all increase the rate of gas loss to atmosphere.
High chlorine levels in the water can cause sore eyes, dry skin and may even bleach out colours in clothing.
The quantity of this that is required should be based on the free chlorine residual (if it can be measured) and the pool volume. To reduce the free chlorine content of a pool by one mg/.litre, this chlorine reducer can be added at the rate of 25 grammes per 5m3 of water (5000 litres). The granules should be mixed into warm water in a bucket and stirred to dissolve. With no swimmers in the pool, simply pour the liquor into the water by the inlet. Allow sufficient time for at least two pool turnovers before testing the new chlorine levels.
